Serving kids!
Camp Dakota is an outreach program that serves children and youth who live in subsidized, low income housing communities. It is a summer day camp program run in Halton Region and 5 sites in Toronto.
Activities
Basketball, field hockey, wide games - capture the flag & prisoners base, track and field, soccer, Frisbee, hip hop dance, crafts and story time.
Our Impact
Camp Dakota has proven record of effectively in breaking the cycle of poverty.
Because poverty isolates and marginalizes families, opportunities are not always available for those who are stigmatized and trapped by it. Camp Dakota provides an exit strategy for youth.
It is a safe place to belong.
With anxiety and mental health issues becoming endemic in today’s youth culture, building and developing healthy relationships are an antidote. A summer spent outdoors with healthy role models is a great alternative to excessive video gaming or watching TV.

Day Camp runs for 6 weeks - July 8 - Aug 16, 2024 for children 6 - 12 yrs. TIME: 10:15 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
Holiday - Monday, August 5, 2024
Campers and Leaders in Training are children who reside in government funded low income housing communities, and can be fully sponsored and funded through donations, grants from Canada Summer Jobs and bursaries from Jumpstart.
No child is turned away.

LEADERS IN TRAINING
Youth leadership runs for 6 weeks for
youth ages 13 - 17.
"Malachi, a summer staff member, who lives in the Jane and Finch area was asked what kept him from joining a gang? His reply “basketball and church youth group!”
Get Involved
There is an ongoing monthly program where the camp activities continue for the campers who are registered during the summer.
We hope to raise $80,000 for the Camp Dakota this summer. This will enable us to run a full eight weeks and serve hundreds of kids.
